That adapter will be a Microsoft Network Adapter Multiplexor Driver, and will use the Microsoft Load Balancing/Failover Provider to interface with each physical NIC. If you view the properties of either physical NIC, you’ll see they’ve been reconfigured to use only the Microsoft Network Adapter Multiplexor Protocol. Oct 25, 2018 Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forums. I understand that your Windows computer recognizes wireless adapter as Ethernet adapter. I would suggest you to follow the steps given below and check if this helps. A) Press Windows key + X, select device manager. Microsoft Network Adapter Multiplexor Protocol is a kernel device driver. In Windows 10 it is starting only if the user, an application or another service starts it. If Microsoft Network Adapter Multiplexor Protocol fails to start, the failure details are being recorded into Event Log. Something bad happened during a firmware/driver update on one of my servers, which resulted in the network adapters being unavailable for teaming in the native nic teaming module. The server had Broadcom Netextreme II adapters, and we suspect that the BACS application is the culprit, since it also supports teaming. The Microsoft Network Adapter Multiplexor Protocol service is a kernel mode driver. This protocol is used for Netword Interface Card bonding, which is the combining of two ethernet cards to appear as one physical device in order to increase the available bandwidth.
